This week is a tough week.  I’m tired from a very busy few work weeks.  It’s the last week of school for Bug and Lizzy.  And all the emotions are flowing.  As I watch many of my friends children graduate from high school I try to reign in my feelings and know that a kindergarten graduation is not as life changing as a high school or college graduation.

My heart is full for this week of activities.

My heart is full for the teachers.

My heart is full for the students.

My heart is full for the administrators.

“I’m excited about Thursday night!”  I said to Lizzy’s kindergarten teacher.  Thursday night is a kindergarten graduation.   This wonderful, blessing of a teacher looked at me and for a moment I could see her anguish.  She said, “I’m not going to lie, I’m not excited” and for that instant my heart hurt for her.  She’s graduating a class of wonderful little human beings who she taught to read, stand in line, say the pledge of allegiance, sing many, many songs, and was their guardian and shield through the days.

And as I am typing this post, tears are flowing  – my heart is overflowing with thankfulness for all the teachers who this week, last week or future weeks who have touched the hearts of so many little ones.

“Don’t cry because it’s over.  Smile because it happened.” – Dr. Seuss
